 Kaspersky IS2010 Good; Customer Assistance Not So Much July 27, 2010

This is my third Kaspersky Internet Security purchase (I bought the 2008 and 2009 versions over the last two years). All went well at the beginning and IS2010 functioned just as the earlier versions had, protecting my laptop it advertised.
About a month after purchase, I was greeted one morning with a message "Files corrupted, black list corrupted". My reaction was ??? Wth? After reading all of the tabs and going through all actions I could conceive of, I finally sent an email to Kaspersky contact point (not easy to find, btw, although it is there; it was kind of like "Where's Waldo?") asking for help. As is always the case these days, I got an automated, cookie cutter response directing me to use the "rollback" tab to rectify the situation. The problem was that the "rollback" tab does not/not appear/work when the "black list corrupted" message appears. Therefore, the "if it's this problem, do this", approach didn't work because the problem of the black list and non-appearance of the rollback tab isn't in Kaspersky's problem lexicon. I wrote Kaspersky again and got the same message, at which point, I thought, I'm screwed; it's your modern day, electonic, non-human voice dead-end...
And then.... Two days later, IS2010 somehow revived and fixed itself, at which point, the "rollback" option suddenly appeared (thanks, a little late, don't you think?).
My suggestion is this: In developing their products and troubleshooting them, Kaspersky and other outfits (I'm thinking Apple and its iPhone debacle) should bring in ordinary users like me, hand them all sorts of problems, and then challenge them (the ordinary folks) to see if they can address the problems using the various "Help" modes that these companies put out. I'd wager that a lot (most, actually) of the help options, "tips", instructions, etc., are irrelevant and/or useless to the needs of most customers...
Bottom line is this: If companies can't afford to hire real people (lots of them!) to help their customers, then use real customers to design your "Help" systems so that they really work and don't leave people like me out there, frustrated, upset, and ultimately dependent on good luck to solve their problems...

I purchased Kaspersky based on a tech friends recommendation.
I got the 3 license pack on CD. The install was quick and painless but still requires a bit of download time to update everything else it needs, including a online verification of your license.
The software itself has lots of powerful tools and plenty of options to customize your scanning.
The interface is easy to navigate and use without having to delve into help files.
I find that the software has done a great job of catching anything that may slip by whether online or in e-mail. The price is good for a 3 computer pack. Although I've only had the software running for a few weeks it is far above Norton AV - which i previously though was the only antivirus I would trust.
Time will tell - but I am very happy with the purchase.

I have used Bit Defender, AVG, Trend Micro, Norton 360, but I like Kapersky Internet Security 2010 the best! It uses the least amount of resources of any security suite I have tried, informs me just the right amount of times, and has the best interface of all of them! There are plenty of controls you can modify if you are an advanced user, or just use the defaults and leave it alone, this program is for everybody! I consider myself pretty computer savvy, but this software is so feature rich there are plenty of features I don't use like the virtual keyboard and the Safe Run, and the Parental Controls. There are so many features I do use though, but most of the time don't even care, because they are running in the background. Kapersky has done a great job with performance with their iChecker and iSwift Scanning that the only time I notice any slight system degradation is when it is performing one of it's hourly updates, but it downloads that very quickly. It does pick up the viruses when you get them, it really works! All I can say is this is one super SWEET Internet Security Suite!

My new win 7 laptop with a trial version of kaspersky security suite 2010 was infected by virus. The virus corrupted the kaspersky database. So I removed the software and tried to reinstall my licensed version that I purchased on amazon. I had never heard of this product to date. i bought the product only because amazon had good rating for the product. The virus had corrupted the OS and now doesnt allow any software to be installed on the machine. I am not sure how someone can give such high ratings for such a product? Do not buy this!
